The Grammys are always exciting -- we’re music lovers after all. But this year, the awards show took on a whole new light as we took part in the Grammy Music Technology Lab the Friday before the biggest night in music.
PledgeMusic’s own Amy Wallace and Angus Donaldson took part in the event, hosted by The Recording Academy, SoundCtrl.com and Zuckerberg Media. The stated purpose of the event is “showcasing entrepreneurs committed to delivering the next level of innovation to the music industry,” and we were totally honored to get to be a part of it.
Basically, Amy and Angus gave their pitch in LA to a group of industry pros serving as judges who scored our platform on its relevancy. Then, those results were reviewed by the event organizers listed above. When all was said and done, we were excited to be pronounced the winners.
As a reward for succeeding at the event, Amy and Angus were given Grammy tickets, and PledgeMusic is now positioned to do more integrated work with the Recording Academy next year, as well as with the other hosting companies.
Though Angus had to return to London before the event, Amy and her date enjoyed the night, taking in all the live performances and then stopping by the Red Light Management and Billboard after parties.
All told, this was a great experience for us, as we’re always keen on the chance to share our vision with anyone who asks. And hey, if that means we occasionally score a pair of free Grammy tickets …. well, we’re OK with that too!
