About

For many years Dove and Boweevil weaved their blues and roots magic as a duo. Seeping with the swampy blues from the marshes of Norfolk was a lonely life, their blues tinged with sweet soul music and the
odd whiskey sour…..then BOOM! Late in 2011, Dove and Boweevil were electrified!
Vocalist Lauren Dove and guitarist Mark ʻBoweevil Howes have been writing and performing together as a duo for several years. In 2009 they traveled in pursuit of their passion for blues and roots to New Orleans, Austin, Nashville, performing in Chicago and Canadaʼs Windsor Blues Fest. There, they reveled in witnessing the likes Susan Tedeschi, Derek Trucks, Bonnie Raitt, Joe Cocker, Mavis Staples the gospel of Al Green in Memphis, Seasick Steve and Larry McCray to name a few who have inspired their music. The success of Dove and Boweevil has grown increasingly since their return.
In 2011 they released their debut acoustic album ʻGetting Somewhereʼ and were nominated for their song Bourbon Street in the British Blues Awards, their song Listen Up was also used in the feature film soundtrack Scar Tissue for release later this year. Crafting their songs to audiences all over the country they have performed at The New Crawdaddy Blues Club, The Devilʼs Kitchen Collective, supported Larry McCray at Norwich Arts Centre, Headlined the Norfolk Blues Explosion, Folk East Festival and are performing at the Broadstairs Blues Bash in February and the main stage at this years Maryport Festival. The band have recently won their heat for the New Brunswick Battle of the Blues and performed in the finals at La Scala in London in March.
In the past year they have recorded their first band e.p The Barn Sessions with Andy Cooper on Hammond, Luke Kerry on bass and Paul Weston on drums transforming the intensity of their refreshingly original blues. With plans to record their first band album later this year online US Blues magazine Blues- E- News have noted the Dove and Boweevil Band one of the TOP 25 new blues bands to watch in 2013!
Original Blues and Roots that will satisfy your soul!
