An inspired pairing – Scottish-Canadian jazz singer Alison Burns and internationally acclaimed guitarist Martin Taylor. Alison, who hails from Dundee, released her debut album, Kissing Bug, in March 2007 receiving universal acclaim and became the first album by a Scottish jazz singer to reach the Jazz Top 10.
Alison has played festivals, clubs and concert halls in Europe, Canada, Australia and the Far East and also guested with Martin Taylor at a number of concerts. It was at these concerts that the idea for a new album “1:AM” came about.
Grammy nominated, Martin Taylor had already achieved Top 10 jazz albums in both the UK and US but when he decided to record an album inspired by the intimate 1960’s duo recordings of Joe Pass and Ella Fitzgerald, stripping back the songs to just vocal and guitar, Martin, who had collaborated with many singers in the past had only one singer in mind for this project – Alison Burns – one of a few artists who brings more to the microphone – music, life, love, heartaches and joy.
