A Statement from PledgeMusic

To the PledgeMusic community,

The situation that PledgeMusic has found itself in is unacceptable and to all of the artists, managers, labels and fans who have put their trust in us, we are deeply sorry.

All of us at the company are working around the clock to address everybody’s concerns and are hopeful of reaching a positive resolution soon.

To you artists especially, we understand that every last penny is vital to your project’s successful delivery and as such we wanted to share with you some of the concrete action that we have undertaken to date:

Firstly, PledgeMusic is a unique platform with millions of active users and we strongly believe that, notwithstanding our recent problems, PledgeMusic has very significant value.

We are in discussions with several interested parties about a potential partnership with or acquisition of PledgeMusic. These conversations, if successful, would lead to a transaction which would allow us to meet all of our outstanding obligations. As a result, we are hopeful that, as long as the company is given some breathing space to operate, a solution to these current problems will be found.

We cannot reveal further details of these conversations at present as we are bound by commercial sensitivities but as soon as we have any news we will release it.

Secondly, PledgeMusic is in advanced discussions with an independent third-party company to manage all artist funds going forward.

Finally, as previously announced, co-founder Benji Rogers has returned to the company as a volunteer strategic advisor and observer to the board of directors. Benji will assist and advise the new management and finance team on the inherited and existing issues, as well as with the forward planning for the company. His statement is HERE

Benji remains as full time Chief Strategy Officer of DotBlockchain Media.

In closing, the board and management team’s priority remains settling any and all back payments that are owed.

We ask for patience. We know that for a lot of you this must be wearing very thin, but we can only reiterate that we are fully focused on making this situation right.

I asked for a refund on a £25 for a skype video call with an artist I pledged for 2 of them and don't feel the need to do a 2nd as I don't have many other questions I feel are worth asking.. I was linked to this post this really doesn't give me an answer?? too many big words for a simple reply.

All the money that has been taken out of my pledgers bank accounts belongs to them or to my project! At this point I don't even care about the demise of my project as much as I care about the monies taken out of my fans and friends bank accounts. One pledger pledged £300!( and she is NOT a wealthy person just really wanted to help my project) I am appalled at the lack of explanation as to where all out money has gone! It's all very well being sorry and trying to resolve the matter but that money came in to Pledge music so where is it!

Just chasing up my refund for the Jake La Botz pledge, just read that Bernie Tormé just died with Pledge music owing him £16,500, he'd paid for and made and posted out his record to his fans from his own pocket and was waiting to pay his band, you should be ashamed.

PledgeMusic robbed me of £193.54 for an Embrace Pledge. Requested refund January countless emails etc. same response still no refund. Think I have to write this money off bank refuse to givde me a charge back. Hit a brick wall now so feel utterly cheesed off with losing this for me an enormous amount of money.

Hi Carol, please don't give up, I know it's difficult to keep pestering them and it becomes emotionally draining, but if you don't keep chasing, then they win.

Your type of message is probably exactly what the're waiting, and hoping, for. Personally, being disabled and living (barely existing) only on benefits, I can't afford to let them do that to me and they owe me a lot less than they owe you.

At least, please, for the sake of the rest of us, don't let them know they're winning, that'll give them hope that they're going to get away with it. Good luck & best wishes in your fight.

I still have not had a response on this item. You FAQs say to go to the pledge page for info, but the page is closed and cannot be accessed. I have not been contacted on when this will be shipped. Your lack of customer service is of great concern at this time. If anyone reads this please respond so that I know you actually have an interest in your customers.
Who do I contact for a refund since it appears that the record will not be shipped to me?

Help With Credit Card and Bank Refunds

A statement from Sleeper: 17/03/2019

Dear customer. We have withdrawn all our products from sale at the retailer Pledgemusic. To the best of our knowledge they have ceased operations in the UK and are categorically unable to deliver any merchandise you have may have purchased. On 07/02/19 we advised you to seek refunds from Pledgemusic for all purchases. We understand no refunds have been forthcoming and that requests for refunds have been ignored. We now advise all customers to seek refunds via chargeback, directly from their credit card or bank. NO ITEMS WILL BE SUPPLIED TO, OR DELIVERED FROM the retailer PLEDGEMUSIC.

Please screenshot and use the above statement for all disputes with your credit card supplier / bank.

Hi Everyone,

SO……. our album is out this Friday. It’s a bitter-sweet moment. We’re so DELIGHTED it’s coming out but we’re obviously saddened and angry about everything that’s happened with Pledge. To update you further, as far as we know there’s no one working in the UK offices. Our contacts left without even informing us. The scale of disregard for artists and fans is off the scale.

BUT the campaign for this album started right here. It began because of you!! We made the album based on funds we thought we’d receive via Pledge. ALL of your goodwill reached us. Unfortunately, your money never did.

We know you’ve been chasing refunds since our last update and we know hardly any of you have received anything more than a standard email.

Pt 2

SO….below is an update on how to seek refunds via credit cards and banks. It’s a lengthy read, so apologies for that, but it’s the best current advise we can get for you. We know some banks will only look at refunds once the delivery date has elapsed so this week seems like a good time to get your claim in or back up any you have already made. Again, apologies that it’s such a DRAG of a process.

In the mean time, we just want to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who has re-bought the album directly from us. Your generosity and support has been OVERWHELMING and, in all honestly, you have saved and rescued this record. We can’t thank you enough.

BEST REFUND ADVICE.

Advice on seeking chargebacks from your Credit Card and Bank

Some of you may have been declined a refund because your transaction is ‘out of time.’ However – for credit disputes this period is listed as ‘from the date the customer knew something was amiss’ for both Mastercard and Visa. (The same conditions appear to cover both debit and credit transactions.)

So, your claim is not out of time. Your claim dates from the date you were informed by us that there was a problem with your order. This date was : 07/02/2019

Part 3...
For claims to have a greater chance of success we suggest the following things.

1. Under both processes you have to contact the merchant (Pledge) directly in the first instance. You then need to allow 14 days for the merchant to resolve this for you. To prove you have done this (and we know most of you have already) email Pledge asking for a full immediate refund as it is clear they will not deliver the goods. Screenshot this email (or print it if you’re submitting your claim via mail), you will need to send this with your claim. Make sure your screenshot has the date and the header information on.

2. Include a screenshot of the statement at the top of this page. This screenshot demonstrates that we/Sleeper have pulled the items from sale as they will not be delivered, and gives a timeframe from when you knew it was not going to be delivered.

Even if your bank has previously said that they cannot do anything until after the release date (which is some bank’s policy, we can’t prove it won’t arrive until it doesn’t) you can submit this information and ask for it to be filed with your previous complaint, as you will be reopening it on the (non) delivery date. The best pressure that you can put on them is that you are disappointed with the level of service and the fact that you were not previously informed that purchases like this one would not be covered by any form of recourse. If this has been the bank’s policy, the 120 day period should start from the date your product is not delivered, not the date of purchase.

3. Fill out the below letter and email or send it to your bank’s customer service department. If you have spent a lot of money and will be going to the Ombudsman if you are not refunded, we would advise it would be worth the £2 ish charge to post this evidence to them recorded.

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to request that you look into raising a dispute for me regarding the transaction made on the DATE for the amount of HOW MUCH YOU SPENT IN TOTAL. I have contacted the merchant on DATE IN EMAIL and waited over 14 days for a response but have received no reply.

I believe that this is an abnormal case for you, so please consider the following in raising a dispute in this case. The merchant, PledgeMusic, is one that operates on a delay, although you may purchase on an earlier date, the fulfilment date of the order is considerably later, often putting people outside of a usual dispute timeline. The system for disputing transactions works on the principle that all goods should have been delivered in a 90 day period. Although disputes are often handled from 120 days from the purchase date, it is actually 120 days from being made aware of a problem. I was made aware that my money was taken with no intention of delivering the goods by the post provided in the screenshots, made on the 7/2/19. (YOU CAN ALSO INCLUDE A SCREEENSHOT OF THE POST MADE ON 7/02/19 AS EXTRA EVIDENCE)

Part 5 [Continuation of letter and last of post]

I have attached considerable evidence that Pledge Music will not honour the transaction noted above and I would like you to act on my behalf. They have also removed the refund button from their website and I have had to contact them via email. Further information about the company and the current state of affairs can be found here:-

As you can read in the above Pledge Music have been negligent to inform customers that there were financial problems that endangered their purchases. I will happily provide further evidence of Pledge Music’s recent actions that have led me to believe this is the case if the enclosed information is not conclusive enough for you, all screenshots provided from the order page can be explored at :-

I would like a response to this letter/email (delete as appropriate) within 14 days as after this point I will be expressing my concerns to the Ombudsman. If you will not take this matter further to recall my funds it would demonstrate that the bank’s system in place is not suitable for these types of purchases and I should have been informed of this as your customer.
