In 1968, Bobbie Gentry released a groundbreaking album considered by many to be the true masterwork of her career, The Delta Sweete. Now, half a century later, Mercury Rev and an all-star cast of women have resurrected the collection with The Delta Sweete Revisited.
Among the list of guest features on the album are Margo Price, Phoebe Bridgers, Lucinda Williams, and Hope Sandoval (of Mazzy Star), to name a few. As fans await the February 8th release, Mercury Rev have unveiled their remake of “Okolona River Bottom Band,” featuring Norah Jones. Listen to the track above.
Riker and the Beachcombers
Riker Lynch, originally a member of the group R5, recently announced the debut album from his new “summery and beach-like” project, Riker and the Beachcombers. After teasing pledgers with previews of the music to come, Riker has unveiled what will likely become the album’s opening track, “Sex On The Beach.”
Riker follows through on his promise of summer-friendly tunes, while hinting at the high-quality productions that the album will contain. Fans that have pledged can stream the song now on his exclusive update here.
