Club 47, an 80-seat, 1960s coffeehouse just outside Harvard Square in Cambridge, Massachusetts, left a musical legacy much larger than its small size would suggest. It was here that many of the icons of folk music got their start, and many legends of American music left an indelible footprint. It was here that Joan Baez, Tom Rush, Bob Dylan, Maria Muldaur, Jim Kweskin, Geoff Muldaur, Taj Mahal and Peter Rowan rubbed elbows with Sleepy John Estes, Rev. Gary Davis and the Staples Singers (just to name a few), as they came together to join in a love of music.

“For the Love of the Music: the Club 47 Folk Revival” tells the tale of this tiny club, the talented and varied family of musicians that populated it, and the influence they had on the American Music scene.

This independent documentary has played to capacity crowds in festival screenings around the country since its sold out-debut at the Boston International Folk Festival. But so many more want to see this slice of music history than can possibly view it at infrequent festivals.

That’s where you come in.

For the film to do justice to the love of the music we celebrate, we have created a score with over 70 songs and historical film clips, including some never-before-released recordings of Joan Baez and Bob Dylan. But the cost to license all of this music is astronomical! To bring this film to you, on DVD, BluRay or streaming, we need to raise the money to license this music.

You can play your own part in this important piece of musical history, to demonstrate your own love of music, by making a pledge today. Without you, this movie can only be seen at infrequent screenings in a few locations.

To sweeten the pot, we’ve put together a unique set of exclusives in exchange…..
Of course, you can pre-order the film on DVD or Bluray, or get a soundtrack CD containing new recordings from many of the film’s stars. Or truly unique, our poster signed by a many of the stars, like Joan BaezTom Rush, Judy Collins and Ellis Paul. Or hold a private screening at your home. Anything you can do, any amount you can pledge, brings us closer to being able to bring this story into homes.

Thank you for your support!
