The American Information Society announced today it will publish its new album, ‘Orders Of Magnitude’ on March 11th. Pre-ordering is available now. Like their 2014 album ‘_hello world’, this album features the original line-up of Paul Robb, Kurt Harland Larson and James Cassidy. Unlike the 2014 effort, the new collection of songs is entirely covers.
The group has raised eyebrows with their selection of several “sacred cows” of popular music, including the Human League’s ’Don’t You Want Me Baby’ and the Sisters Of Mercy’s ‘Dominion’. “We were powerfully affected by these songs, and now we echo that effect back out”, said the group in comments at a press conference in Davos, Switzerland, timed to coincide with the World Economic Forum meeting taking place there this week.
As with their 2014 release, this album is available as part of a deluxe package. Unlike that release, this package will apparently include a functioning robot. Called ‘Sparky’ by the group, the robot will have sensors, actuator arms, mobile navigation, sound production, hackability (Arduino-based programmability) and will be custom-branded with InSoc iconography.
Other items in the ‘Orders Of Magnitude’ product line include clothing, posters, stickers, and so on. (See below)
Those ordering the album will obtain the PledgeMusic InSoc AccessPass which includes a high-quality digital download of ‘Orders Of Magnitude’ as well as access to “multitudinous” bonus content, video clips, remixes, exclusive tracks etc., all of which will be exclusive to access-pass holders. Download codes will be emailed on Thursday, March 10, 2016.

“Orders Of Magnitude”, the new album from the original lineup of Information Society, is a collection of songs originally written and performed by other artists. Also included is InSoc’s rework of the Disney classic “Heffalumps And Woozles” (from Winnie The Pooh). “Capital I” was originally featured on the children’s TV show Sesame Street and “Me And My Rhythm Box” is lifted from the soundtrack to the cult classic film Liquid Sky.

So we put our heads together and asked “what can we make that’s cool, useful, fun and fashionable”? After weeks of head scratching we realized that we all love SOCKS – INSOCKS! So we finally get to realize our life-long goal of helping keep our fans’ tootsies toasty. InSocks are custom made and woven in the USA. They are made from an 80% acrylic and 20% nylon blend, padded and vented so they are a smidge thicker than a regular cotton crew sock. Stay warm, look cool.
We searched long and hard for the rare element that imprisoned Han Solo and unearthed a stash buried under Kurt’s desert canyon lair. We brought it to one of the world’s finest blacksmiths who hand-spun this rare element into the slightly antiqued “IS” logo pendant that we are offering here. It comes with a 24-inch faux leather neck cord and, upon wearing, you will be the most fashionable person in the universe.
OOM Shirt (men size xs – 3xl, women size s – 2xl): $30
A 100% cotton T-Shirt (men’s & women’s sizes) that continues the design trend that started with the “_hello world” plane spotter illustrations. This time around our friend Verdilak has taken the “listening man” from the OOM cover and created a custom rendering just for us. Shirts are 30/1, soft cotton and printed using discharge ink.
3 die-cut vinyl stickers featuring the “Listening Guy” illustration artwork
