I have never been paid by PLEDGEMUSIC; please contact your bank!

Hey everyone!

Just wanted to say thank you again for supporting my PledgeMusic campaign last fall to help me release my second record, ‘Southern Ambrosia’; I hope you are still enjoying spinning the album and sharing with friends! I have some rather upsetting news to report, however: after closing my successful and fully funded campaign at the end of September 2018, I was never paid out the earnings by PledgeMusic.

After months of patient discussion with company representatives and endless emails exchanges promising to deliver my deposit, several disturbing news articles about the company started to emerge (see below.) In January of this year, all affected artists (over $3 Million dollars in campaign donations) were told that any outstanding balances (for me 100% of my balance) would be paid out within 90 days.

I now see that I will not ever be receiving my campaign funding via PledgeMusic. PledgeMusic is completely silent and do not currently have any staff on payroll.

As an independent artist with 100% of the financial burden, this is quite a devastating blow, as a I counted my campaign funding as part of my budget to press and promote my album (around $18k for pressing and promotion.) My campaign raised $4600.

I have stayed pretty quiet about all this, preferring to resolve what feels like such a personal matter in private, and feeling a sense of (what I now see is unnecessary) embarrassment at the whole situation. But the anger at this company from stealing from so many independent artists wants me to take action, or rather, humbly ask you to take action.
