Long story short:
Initially, I had planned on recording a five-song, tight, straightforward EP that I would be proud to give to you. However, as soon as we started recording, I knew something special was going on, and that an EP was not going to cut it. That’s not bragging, it’s just that when you do something long enough, you kinda get a feel for when it’s the real thing, and in this case it was obvious. It also meant that an EP was not going to cut it. So I crashed through the DEAD END sign and kept on driving. I now have a full-length record that is edgy, Americana-leaning, story-based, and deeply connected to all my work that came before it.
I’m asking you to help me see it through to completion. In addition to the finished product, I’m psyched to offer a bunch of things I’ve been itching to give you, including many other studio and live recordings, podcasts, interviews with the people who worked on the record, a quarterly subscription to the all-new and still infamous Tallboy magazine, and more. You’ll be a part of the first-ever non-holiday expansion of the Holiday Omens, which is explained below. And hey, if you don’t see something that you want, just ask me. Let’s make this work.
For decades, you have been there for me and I have tried to express my gratitude by making the best possible work I can. I hope you’ll join me now, and continue to play along.
So that’s it. Let’s do this.
Get a digital download of my new album PLUS first access to other new recordings; demos; stories; podcast-style interviews with everyone who played on the record; and behind-the-scenes updates.
I asked you what you wanted at my Facebook page, and some of you said this, so here it is. Who am I to judge? It’ll be in a white sleeve, with the “Minor Fits” sticker included. I was going to place the sticker on the sleeve, but thought I’d give you the option to put it elsewhere. CD itself will be signed and hand-titled.
High quality, frameable, limited edition lithograph, signed. This was created by artist Ben Small, who worked with me to create an image that expressed the core of this album. So, if you see allusions to the 90s sci-fi classic “Contact;” or spot the Gibson ES-335 which is a painstaking recreation of the guitar my wife surprised me with last year; or find images that conjure Nikola Tesla, the Croatian-born futurist and inventor of alternating current, well, let’s just say there are no coincidences in this world.
Your name will appear in the liner notes of Minor Fits, and you will forever be etched in time as someone who supported my music. If $75 is less than you wanted to contribute, you can purchase more than one by putting another number (say, “5”) in your cart at checkout. Easy as Amazon!
Order must be placed by 5/28 to be included in the liner notes.
All hail the return of hand-crafted, artisanal literature in the old-school punk ‘zine tradition. You will receive FOUR editions of Tallboy magazine over the coming year. It will be filled with magic, but also with short stories that orbit the world of music, albeit loosely, like a rumored comet or a wrench slipped from an astronaut’s hand.
Book a solo house concert with me ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD! You can choose the entire set list from my catalog, as well as any one cover. I will offer a price break if people can get together and route more than one show together—I can help you find people to route, or you can use the “discussion” section of the Pledge, my Facebook band page, or info[at]errico.com.
Time and date will be mutually agreed upon. All travel and accommodation are IN ADDITION to the pledge price. Also you provide a small sound system. (It’s helpful if you actually want to hear it.)
Note: This pledge will be fulfilled according to our mutual schedule + convenience.
You’ll go a long way toward realizing this project. Your name will be included as an executive producer on all credits, and you will receive a trophy announcing the fact. Of course, if you wish to be anonymous, you have that option. This offering comes with the limited edition lithograph, the “Red Folder,” a full-song lyric print (song of your choice), the Tallboy magazine subscription, the signed discography, and your own hand-curated Holiday Omen. Holy moly. DO IT.
I like interesting covers (as you’ll soon see) and I’m open to suggestions. You name the song (within reason) and I’ll do my best. You’ll receive a video of the rendition. If it seems worthy, I’d like to share it with others, too.
Full color, 4.5″ × 4.5″ artwork by renowned artist Ben Small, who fused art deco, Nikola Tesla, and the 1996 classic film “Contact,” starring Jodie Foster.
A riff off the cover art by genius artist Ben Small, who intermingled art deco, Nikola Tesla, and the Carl Sagan book/1996 classic film, “Contact.” Boom. T-shirts are black, Bella-Canvas Triblend Short Sleeve Tees (men run true to size; women should size down).
For decades, audience members at my annual Holiday Show have received a vision into their future in the form of an object that they pull from the so-called Omen Bag. The Omen foretells an aspect of their upcoming year, and the goal is for them to decide why it picked them. I have done this, with shocking results, for well over a decade, but…THIS HAS NEVER BEEN DONE IN A NON-HOLIDAY SHOW CONTEXT, meaning this will be the first (only?) chance to receive one. Each Omen comes with a Certificate of Provenance, and a brief story description of its journey TO me, then THROUGH me, on its way to you.
Signed lithograph of the amazing “Minor Fits” artwork by Ben Small + t-shirt to match.
Ask me any question in the universe, and I will provide a full-page response, signed, and include a Mike Errico sticker. NOTE: I retain the right to post these, without your name, of course. Sometimes answers serve more than just the person asking, you know?
You take any lyric of mine that speaks to you and I will hand-write it on heavy stock paper, then add a complementary photo that I’ve taken. The result is a one-of-a-kind frameable piece of art that displays the lyric but also works visually. (Here are some examples: www.pinterest.com/mikeerrico/lyric-prints). You can also leave it to fate and write “Mike’s Choice” in the field, and I will send one of my choosing.
This is what the band actually got – a red folder with all my crazy chord charts, lyrics, plus a Mike Errico sticker, and the set list for the 2016 Holiday Show. Signed.
Song of your choice- I will write them out in my intriguing longhand, ensuring that no two are the same. My personal preference is silver pen on black paper, but we can talk. In special cases, I can add a scan of the journal entries that show the lyric being worked out, crossed out, cursed out, then completed.
Digital download of the new release + signed copies of Bite Size, Vicious Circle, Pictures of the Big Vacation, Tonight I Drink You All, Skimming, All In, Lift, (audiobook), and Wander Away. You’re going to need a bigger boat.
A quality bundle that includes the shirt, the sticker, and the red folder. You’ll be getting the music, too, and let me tell you, you’ll be getting more than the music on the album. Just saying.
I have taught songwriting at Yale, Wesleyan, and NYU’s Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music, where I presently reside. If you are a songwriter looking for feedback and analysis about the mechanics and the arc of your song, I would love to offer that to you. This Pledge is for ONE song, and if you wish to have more than one song critiqued, you can order multiples of this Pledge.
I’ll play you a 35-minute set (though I always seem to go over). It’ll be fun. I’ll take requests, but if it’s obscure, give me a heads up beforehand. That’s only fair.
Includes everything from the “song critique” pledge, plus a follow-up meeting about your song and how it sits in the wider context of your catalogue; your writing process; and the next steps in your career, be it in music, writing, or performance. Books will be recommended, philosophies discussed. This can be done either in person (NYC area) or on Skype (one hour max.)
I lecture at high schools, universities, museums, and national symposia dedicated to interrelated forms of expression. I can create a compelling (and usually passably funny) lecture, with sonic and visual examples. I have used A/V (Keynote, Powerpoint, etc.), and can tailor a lecture to your needs. I find that 45 minutes is a good length. Message me at info[at]errico.com so we can talk about the details ahead of purchasing. Time and date will be mutually agreed upon.
All travel and accommodation are IN ADDITION to the pledge price. This pledge will be fulfilled according to our mutual schedule + convenience.
Thank you for being so incredibly generous. Choose from donation levels of: $25, $50, $100, $200, $300, $500, and $1000.
Book a solo house concert with me anywhere in the 48 contiguous United States. You can choose the entire set list from my catalog, as well as any one cover. I will offer a price break if people can get together and route more than one show together, meaning: a Cleveland show would be $950, but if you can connect with someone else in a nearby city for a date the next day (say, Detroit, or Pittsburgh, for instance), the price drops. If you are interested, I can help you find people to route, or you can use the “discussion” section of the Pledge, my Facebook band page, or info[at]errico.com.
Time and date will be mutually agreed upon. All travel and accommodation are IN ADDITION to the Pledge price. Also you provide a small sound system. (It’s helpful to have one there if you actually want to hear it.) Note: This pledge will be fulfilled according to our mutual schedule + convenience.
