Greetings, you lucky people. Here we go then, the launch of the PWEI Pledgemusic campaign. First up, we will be releasing the 6-track ‘Watch It Blow’ EP in March. Featuring one brand new track, two freshly recorded tracks and three remixes.
The main track ‘Watch The Bitch Blow’ is a brand new tune that rails against greed culture and inequality and is sympathetic to the Anonymous, Occupy and 99% causes that are currently attacking these issues head on. The under-pinning guitar riff was penned by long-time friend and PWEI cohort Kerry Hammond, aka The Buzzard, who was co-writer on Their Law, the well known Prodigy/PWEI collaboration.
The next two tracks have some history. Hollow, in a more basic instrumental form, was an idea originated by Fuzz Townshend. A snippet of it was heard in the ‘Sonic Noise Byte’ of 2005. It remained on the shelf for some time before vocals were added and a complete reworking and proper production turned it into the schizophrenic and deranged beast it has now become. Babylon (RIP) is a tune that you will be familiar with, albeit in different versions. So why another? Well, unlike the apocalyptic ambient version on ‘Dos Dedos…’, the ‘unfinished’ demo version was an upbeat, livelier affair that surfaced on Cherry Red’s recent reissue series. Graham had always felt this was a lacklustre and ‘underachieving’ version, so the newly recorded R.I.P. version represents closure on an awkward little bastard that refused to lie down and die.
The EP is completed with a trio of remixes of tunes from the ‘New Noise…’ album; Mask by Crabbi, Every Day Is A World War by Wayne Hall and Adam Mole, and Wasted Part 2 by Sam Dodson (Loop Guru).
Later in a busy year for PWEI releases will be our World Cup song in May and brand new album in September. More info on these nearer the time.
