The Riptides began in Brisbane back in 1977. After playing around town and releasing 2 independent singles the band decided to move to Sydney in the hope of securing a recording deal. With their unique pop-punk sound the band developed a large and loyal following and eventually signed to Regular Records.
The band then set about recording their debut album but the process was marred by lineup and management changes. despite recording plenty of material, only a six-track ‘mini album’ was released, Following yet another lineup change, a new five piece lineup returned to the studio, recording more material and releasing ‘Hearts And Flowers’. Now, some 30 years later the debut album that never was will finally be released. The 13 track album contains 3 unreleased tracks and is being remixed by Rick Will (Incubus, No Doubt, Dave Matthews, Etc.). The CD version also contains 8 bonus tracks including the original Sunset Strip and Tomorrow’s Tears releases. At last, the definitive Riptides set is finally available.
