Zion80’s percussionist Marlon Sobol has been setting Hasidic songs (known as ‘nigunim’) to Afro-Cuban rhythms. This is very much in the spirit of Zion80, combining Jewish music with other genres and flavors. Here’s the second video in the ‘Nigunim in Clave’ series with Marlon and yours truly. And if you’ve seen any of the previous update videos, you’ll recognize the location – none other than Zion80 world headquarters, aka my basement :)
Check out the video here:
All the best,
Our fearless actor Simon Feil suited up in a Superman-ish costume under the also-fearless direction of filmmaker Saul Sudin as we embarked on another day of shooting for the Zion80 ‘Pardes’ video that was made possible by THIS VERY Pledgemusic campaign! Our esteemed tenor saxophonist Greg Wall also joined us for super-guerilla NYC Subway scene. Enjoy these photos, and stay tuned for the video!
And…. if you’re seeing this update and have not yet pre-ordered the WARRIORS album, you can do so here: http://www.pledgemusic.com/zion80

ICYMI, check out the preview video (with awesome slo-mo studio footage) for Zion80’s song ‘Wandering Stone.’ PledgeMusic pledgers will be the first to hear the full version when it comes out later this year on WARRIORS. Stay tuned!
